The Oregon football program is currently preparing for their upcoming matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl, with a spot in the national championship game on the line. Oregon has been the most dominant team in the playoffs so far, beating both James Madison and Texas Tech by blowout margins of victory to punch their ticket to college football's final four.
This isn't the first time that the Ducks and Hoosiers have squared off this season, as Indiana marched into Eugene and won a narrow game over Oregon earlier this season.
Recently, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning referenced that setback in preparation for the rematch on Friday night.
“If you can't get up for an opportunity to play Indiana, especially after they had the better of us last time, then shame on us,” said Lanning, per Zach Osterman of Indystar on X, formerly Twitter.
Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti also knows his team will have a challenge on its hands in trying to defeat the Ducks for a second time this season.
“I can't say enough great things about Oregon…it's hard to beat a great team twice, it's hard to be a great team period,” said Cignetti, per Michael Niziolek of the Herald-Times on X.
Indeed, beating the same team twice in one season is difficult, as both the Oklahoma Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs have already found out during these playoffs, losing their rematches against the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ole Miss Rebels, respectively.
Still, Indiana will have plenty of reason for confidence after trouncing Alabama in the Rose Bowl.
Meanwhile, Oregon will get its first true test of these playoffs against Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, and they'll look to set the tone early in this game as they try to avenge their earlier loss to the Hoosiers.
Kickoff is set for Friday at 7:30 pm ET from Atlanta.
