The Indiana Hoosiers just keep one-upping themselves. Just when you think Curt Cignetti's team couldn't be any more dominant, Indiana has another dominant performance against a top team. The Hoosiers continued their conquest of the CFP landscape with a 56-22 win over the Oregon Ducks to advance to the finals.
The Hoosiers' turnaround over the last two years under Cignetti has been nothing short of incredible. The fact that they've become this dominant, game-breaking force makes their turnaround even more mind-boggling. After their dismantling of the Ducks, Indiana became the first team since the 1886 Yale team to achieve this level of greatness.
FBS (or equivalent) teams to score 55+ points & win by 30+ points in seven different games in a season:

Indiana started off hot in the Peach Bowl against Oregon. Hoosiers cornerback D'Angelo Hall picked off Ducks quarterback Dante Moore in the first play of the game and returned it for a touchdown. Two more fumbles by Moore in their own territory (one of which was forced by the Indiana defense) led to two more touchdowns for the Hoosiers.
The result of Indiana's first-half explosion was a 35-7 at halftime over Oregon. It was a deficit that the Ducks could ultimately not overcome, as the Hoosiers went to their first College Football Playoff finals. This is just the latest benchmark in Cignetti's incredible stint with the program. In just two years, Cignetti turned the downtrodden program into a team that's being talked about as one of the best teams in CFP history.
Indiana will now have the chance to cap off their undefeated season with a championship. The Hoosiers will take on the Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff final. Miami is coming off a nail-biting win against the Ole Miss Rebels. Fernando Mendoza and the Hoosiers' dominant offense will be tested against one of the best defenses in the nation.
