The Minnesota Timberwolves are planning to sign guard Isaiah Canaan to a 10-day contract, hoping to get Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins some assistance.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Wolves are looking to sign the 27-year-old. This might be an effort to add another point guard to their rotation — three of which (Jeff Teague, Derrick Rose, and Tyus Jones) are down with respective injuries.

The Murray State standout suited up for the Phoenix Suns earlier this season where he averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 19 games across 26.5 minutes. He also shot 39.5 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from 3-point distance.

In his stint with the Suns, Canaan was the team's starting point guard but was the secondary ball-handler behind star guard Devin Booker. And as the season went on, Suns coach elected to have Canaan come off the bench where he saw his minutes and role dwindle. On Nov. 27, he was waived by the team.

Canaan entered the league in 2013 as the 34th overall pick in the draft. He has played for the Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, and most recently, the Suns. He also spent some time in the G League where he was named into the Prospects All-Star roster for the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Game.
