The Detroit Red Wings have struggled since signing future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane. However, Kane himself has not struggled. In fact, there's an argument to be made that the 35-year-old is the team's best player. And the feat he achieved on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild may add to that argument.

Kane scored Detroit's first goal against Minnesota. This gives him four straight games of finding the back of the net. And as a result, he is the first Red Wings player to record a four-game goal streak at 35 years or older since Pavel Datsyuk in 2014-15, according to NHL Public Relations.

Patrick Kane has held up his end of the bargain since joining the Red Wings. He's even turned the clock back a bit. In fact, this four-game goal streak is the longest he's had since the 2019-20 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, according to NHL Public Relations.

Patrick Kane has led the Detroit Red Wings

Kane has had a few big moments for Detroit despite their struggles. Perhaps his most cathartic moment came before the NHL's holiday break. He scored two goals against the Philadelphia Flyers before winning the game with a huge shootout goal.

Beyond that, though, he has produced at a point-per-game pace. His goal on Wednesday marked his 10th point in 10 games. He has provided offense in some of the team's more crushing losses. For example, he had an assist and goal in a 5-2 loss against the Winnipeg Jets. And he scored his first goal with the Red Wings in a 5-1 loss against the Ottawa Senators.

Patrick Kane has defied the odds since returning from offseason hip resurfacing surgery. If he continues, the Red Wings could find themselves back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2016. Let's see if the future Hall of Famer can help Detroit get out of this slump and get back into playoff contention.
