The New York Rangers will attempt to finish the sweep as they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday in Game 4 of the second round. We're here to share our NHL odds series, make a Rangers-Hurricanes Game 4 prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Rangers defeated the Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime to steal Game 3. Now, they are one win away from sealing their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals. Things did not start well for them as Jake Guentzel crossed in front of the net to redirect a shot into the net to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead. Later, in the second period, Mika Zibanejad stole a pass on a penalty kill and dished it to Chris Kreider, who redirected it into the net for a game-tying shorthanded goal.

It was 1-1 in the third period when Alexis Lafreniere came off the feed from Artemi Panarin and flashed a beautiful one-timer to give the Rangers the lead. However, the Hurricanes kept themselves alive when Andrei Svechnikov found a ricochet and fired the rebound into the net to tie the game and force overtime. But the Rangers finished this game when Vincent Trocheck stole the puck off a weird bounce by Dmitri Orlov and found Panarin, who redirected the puck into the game-winning tally.

Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Rangers did not play well in Game 3. Yet, they found a way to win. New York fired just 25 shots on net. Even worse, they won just 39 percent of their faceoffs. The Rangers also were 0 for 4 on the powerplay. Therefore, their players hope to do a little better in Game 4 to ensure a win.

Zibanejad now has three goals and nine assists in the playoffs, including two markers on the powerplay. Also, he has won 51 draws and lost 55 in the faceoff circle. Trocheck now has five goals and seven assists, including four tallies on the extra-man attack. Moreover, he has been a faceoff king, winning 87 draws and losing 66.

Panarin was the hero of Game 3. Now, he sits at four goals and five assists while still looking for his first powerplay conversion. Lafreniere continues to shine in the playoffs. Currently, he has three goals and four assists. Kreider sits at four goals and three assists. Thus, expect him to continue to try and find the back of the net.

The defense played sloppy hockey. However, they still blocked 16 shots. But that is little relief, knowing that goalie Igor Shesterkin made 45 saves. Ultimately, he needs his defense to play better in front. Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba must defend the blue line more efficiently. Significantly, Fox has five hits and 18 blocked shots, while Troube has 31 hits and 40 blocked shots through seven playoff games. Shesterkin is now 7-0 with a 2.01 goals-against average and a save percentage of .935.

The Rangers will cover the spread if they do better in the faceoff circle. Then, they need to clamp down on defense and avoid allowing too many shots.

Why The Hurricanes Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Hurricanes dominated this game statistically. Unfortunately, they could not solve Shesterkin for most of the night, and it cost them dearly in overtime. The Canes also went 0 for 5 on the powerplay. Despite all this, their offense still has the weapons to take Game 3 and force the series back to New York.

Sebastian Aho has two goals and seven assists in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He has also been decent in the faceoff circle, winning and losing 71 draws each. Seth Jarvis has four goals and four assists, including one powerplay tally. However, he has not scored over the past two games. Guenztel now has four goals and four assists after notching another one in Game 3.

Brady Skjei has seven assists but is still looking for his first goal of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Martin Necas has two goals and four assists. Svechnikov currently has two goals and six assists, including one tally on the powerplay.

The defense and goaltending have been sporadic throughout the playoffs. Ultimately, they allowed just 25 shots, but they need to do a better job of determining which shots go through. Now, the hopes and dreams of the Hurricanes rests with Frederik Andersen, who is 4-3 with a 2.58 goals-against average and a save percentage of .889.

The Hurricanes will cover the spread if they can convert on their chances on the powerplay. Then, they need to prevent easy shots and stop turning the puck over in front of their net.

Final Rangers-Hurricanes Game 4 Prediction & Pick

Two of the three games have gone over 5.5 goals in this series. Amazingly, the Rangers have continued to score, even against a tough defense. There is a good chance the Rangers win this game and seal this series. Yet, it is difficult to ignore the fact that the Hurricanes basically outplayed the Rangers in the past two games. There will be some scoring again for Game 4. Consequently, much of this will result in bad mistakes. We believe the Hurricanes survive Game 4 and force the series back to Madison Square Garden. However, our official pick is to go with the over.
