Emotions are always at an all-time high when it comes to the NBA Playoffs. The Denver Nuggets really needed to get a game on their home floor but just could not get close to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Nikola Jokic and Mike Malone could not salvage plays against this tough defense. Moreover, Jamal Murray and the rest of the squad just could not get anything going when being defended by Anthony Edwards or any other guard. This led to a lot of frustration which got bottled up.
Intrusive thoughts are one thing but throwing stuff onto the court is a hazard. Jamal Murray sent a heat pack flying to the court and it nearly landed on some players. Thankfully, not a single one of the Nuggets or Timberwolves players slipped over it and tripped. However, there were some disgruntled reactions from avid spectators of the NBA Playoffs. One of them came from Kendrick Perkins.
“It’s going to be interesting how the Nuggets are going to look in Game 3 without Murray… because he’s most likely getting suspended for throwing that Heat Pack,” the former NBA player declared.
NBA Playoffs spectators call for a suspension
Interestingly enough, Jamal Murray's actions did not warrant any sort of stoppage or review. This also meant that no penalty was assessed to the Nuggets guard despite what could have been a potentially dangerous action. Now, fans are calling for him to get sanctioned so that he learns through consequences.
“Suspend this clown, NBA. Someone could have been legitimately hurt. Complete embarrassment from Murray. Guy is fully on tilt acting like a child,” a fan wrote.
Some spectators of this NBA Playoffs series believe that it could be done if they lose the guard, “It’ll be so interesting to see if the league decides to fine or suspend Jamal Murray for this inexcusable act. If they suspend him? The series is a WRAP. Denver is down 2-0 and the #2 player and the T-Wolves are just backing them into a corner and feasting.”
Others were not too sure about him missing time in this series but were concerned about other key absences, “Skeptical the NBA will suspend Jamal Murray from a playoff game for throwing the heat pad onto the floor. But that Reggie Jackson injury–which looked pretty bad–looms large if they do.”
Nuggets struggle against the Timberwolves
It was not at all a good start to this NBA Playoffs series for the Nuggets. They lost by seven points in Game 1 and got buried with a 26-point deficit in Game 2. This latest loss was particularly more frustrating because every single person on the Nuggets roster was bothered by the Timberwolves' defense. Only Aaron Gordon managed to get 20 points. Even then, they shot a horrid 34.9% from the field and got hammered inside which allowed for the opponents to notch 52 points in the paint.
The fact that the Nuggets also managed to sink nine out of their 30 three-point attempts did not help. Overall, a lot of adjustments need to be made if they wish to not get swept in this series.
