The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place on Thursday, and that means North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye will know where he will play in the league, and ahead of the first round, Maye was asked who he is excited to face at the next level, which brought a surprising answer.

“I think Micah Parsons, I got to meet him out there at the Super Bowl and he's such a great player and to get a chance to line up and see him roam around different positions would be fun to play against. So, yeah probably Micah Parsons,” Drake Maye said, via NFL on ESPN.

It is interesting to hear that Maye is looking forward to going up against Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, as usually quarterbacks have been terrorized by him. Maye is obviously looking to go up against the best in the league to show that he can beat the best.

It will be interesting to see how Maye fares in the NFL, and when he goes up against the Cowboys and Parsons. It could be dependent on the situation that Maye steps into with the team that drafts him.

What are the landing spots for Drake Maye?

There are a number of possibilities when it comes to where Maye will end up in the NFL. With the Chicago Bears seemingly set on taking Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in the draft, Maye is likely to go within the next few picks.

The first possible destination is the Washington Commanders, who hold the No. 2 pick in the draft. The general sense with reporting is that LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is the favorite to be selected in this spot, but it is nowhere near as certain as Williams to the Bears seems. Maye could go here and join a division rival of the Cowboys and Parsons, and have many matchups with them in his career. However, it would be a mild surprise if Maye was picked over Daniels in this spot.

The New England Patriots hold the No. 3 pick in the draft, and the general thought is that they will stick at that spot and pick a quarterback, and many expect it to be Maye. This would mean that Maye would not face Parsons very often. Only every few years or in a potential Super Bowl matchup.

However, there is some thought that the Patriots are open to trading down from the No. 3 pick. It seems unlikely, but teams like the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings are most often mentioned among the ones looking to trade up. If Maye lands with the Giants, he would obviously be going up against Parsons a lot inside the division. With the Vikings, he would face Parsons at times, but not every year. And a playoff matchup with the Cowboys is possible in that event as well.

Only time will tell where Maye will end up when he is in the NFL.
