This offseason has been a wild one for the Michigan football team. The Wolverines won the national title last year, but the 2024 Michigan team is going to look a lot different. Head coach Jim Harbaugh left for the Los Angeles Chargers after the perfect 15-0 season, and now, Sherrone Moore is the new head coach for the Wolverines.

Jim Harbaugh took a good chunk of the 2023 Michigan football coaching staff with him to the NFL, so Sherrone Moore was busy in the early parts of the offseason putting together his new staff. Moore kept and promoted some people, but he also brought in a lot of new faces. There were some obstacles along the way, but Moore did a good job with his hires.

One of the familiar faces that is staying on the Michigan staff is Kirk Campbell. Campbell was previously the quarterbacks coach for the Wolverines when Moore was the offensive coordinator. Now that Moore is running the ship, Campbell is the new OC.

Sherrone Moore and Kirk Campbell's roles are obviously different in a big way this season, and while it has changed the dynamic a little bit, it sounds like most things are the same between the two of them.

“I view Sherrone [Moore] first as my boss and a really good friend after that,” Kirk Campbell told the media after the Michigan football spring game. “Yeah, it changes a little bit, but we have so much respect for each other and it's awesome to work with him. Last year was great with coach [Harbaugh] and then to follow it up with Sherrone Moore, it's a breath of fresh air, he's one of my best friends and the head coach for the University of Michigan.”

It's clear that Moore and Campbell have a great relationship, and that should bode well for the Wolverines in the long run.

It's hard to believe that the Jim Harbaugh era is over in Michigan, but the Sherrone Moore era is now underway. There is certainly a lot of uncertainty surrounding the program as the team will be almost entirely different in 2024 from a player and coach standpoint. Still, Moore saw the blueprint for success from Harbaugh, and he wants to keep a lot of things the same.

It will be weird to see a new coach leading the Wolverines next season, but then again, Moore did serve as acting coach for four different games last season. He also beat Ohio State in one of those games. If he hadn't already done enough to earn the permanent head coaching job, that certainly did the trick.
