The Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas City Royals end their three-game series with a rubber match on Wednesday afternoon. The Royals won the first game of the series Monday, a good rebound after losing two of three games against the Texas Rangers over the weekend. The Royals are performing above expectations, owning a 21-15 record, but they've been average over their last ten games, with just a .500 record. The Brewers have been on a similar trajectory, performing well at 20-14 but going just 4-6 over their past ten. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Brewers-Royals prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.

Joe Ross will get the start for the Brewers, and who knows what pitcher we will see. He is 1-3 with a 4.65 ERA this season but has been going back and forth with his performances over the last four starts. It started on April 15th, when Ross allowed nine hits and six earned runs against the Padres. He shut down the Pirates in his next start, with just one earned run, but then gave up another six earned to the Yankees. In his last start, Ross returned to good form again, allowing one earned run in six innings against the Cubs.

Brady Singer and his 2.45 ERA will look to shut down the Brewers. He allowed more than two earned runs once this season and has been one of the Royals' most consistent pitchers. If you take out his start against the Blue Jays, when he allowed five earned runs, Singer has gone at least five innings every start and hasn't allowed more than five hits or two earned runs.

Why The Brewers Will Cover The Spread/Win

Joe Ross' poor starts aren't promising, as he's given up six earned runs in a start twice in his last four games. However, Ross has also given his team a chance to win in some of his starts and probably deserves a better win/loss record. He allowed one earned run in his last start through six innings, but the Brewers couldn't do enough to pull away until after Ross left. It also happened in his first start, as he allowed two hits and no earned runs but was pulled early due to a restricted pitch count.

Why The Royals Will Cover The Spread/Win

Brady Singer is a much more reliable pitcher than Joe Ross. Ross has had some great outings this season, but he's had his share of blown starts. The Royals don't have the best offense, batting just .235 and averaging 4.8 runs/nine. However, they have shown an ability to break a game wide open when facing certain pitchers.  Singer's last start was a pitching battle through the sixth inning, but the Royals scored six runs in the seventh inning to pay off Singer's great start.

The Royals may need to get to Joe Ross before he gives way to the Brewers' bullpen, as their bullpen has a 2.72 ERA this season. Ross has been blown up in some of his starts this season, so the Royals can jump out to a big lead early if Singer dominates again.

Final Brewers-Royals Prediction & Pick

Brady Singer is a much more reliable pitcher than Joe Ross, so the Royals are the team we have to take in this game. Singer has allowed more than two earned runs in a start just once, and the Brewers' offense doesn't strike fear in many pitchers. Take the Royals to add another poor start to Joe Ross' resume this season.
