The world of A Quiet Place is one already ravaged by an alien invasion by creatures that hunt through sound when audiences were introduced to it back in 2018 via the Abbott family. A Quiet Place: Day One is going to give viewers a better understanding of just how quickly and mercilessly the world was ravaged by these aliens, and the newest trailer for the film drives this point home alongside the efforts of survivors to try and avoid the aliens.

The new trailer starts off with the loud, bustling noises of New York City as Lupita Nyong'o's character Sam goes about on what appears to be a fairly normal day for herself and her cat. Things quickly fall into chaos, though, as meteors begin raining down across the city and the vicious aliens began ravaging the city, attacking anyone and anything that makes even the slightest noise as people are killed en masse amid the confusion.

It goes from bad to worse for Sam even faster as military attempts to cut off the island of Manhattan from the rest of New York City, leaving Sam and many other survivors stranded.

Alongside Sam, the trailer gives a better look at Joseph Quinn‘s Eric, a survivor who appears to be working with Sam to navigate and possibly escape the aliens' invasion of New York City.

The trailer also offers a brief glimpse at Djimon Hounsou, who is reprising his role from A Quiet Place: Part 2 in the new prequel. While he was unnamed in Part 2, his name is revealed to be Henri and will have a hand in helping Sam survive the mass swarm of aliens hunting all across the city.

A City of Ghosts

Perhaps the most haunting image, though, is one of the trailer's closing shots that shows just how quickly people start to realize how the aliens hunt.

A mass of survivors can be seen walking through New York City's streets in confused silence, while Sam examines the rooftops and realizes something is amiss. She whispers to another survivor off-screen to “run” before the trailer cuts to Sam and Eric running for their lives though an office building as quietly as possible. They are not able to make it far, though, before a falling briefcase alerts a swarm of aliens that begin to bear down on the pair.

The scene, and overall trailer, hint that survivors quickly pick up on how the aliens see and hunt, but are still powerless to stop them during the invasion's early days.

The outcomes of the invasion can already be seen in A Quiet Place and Part 2 with a world where the aliens roam to hunt and humans trying to survive in silent terror. It remains to be seen, though, if Sam or any of the other new survivors will be able to make it out of New York City and avoid the aliens slowly taking over the planet.

A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to release in theaters on June 28, 2024.
