After officially finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes has the first true challenger of his long-awaited run with the WWE Championship in the most unusual venue of all, WWE Backlash in Lyon, France.

Now granted, Rhodes has wrestled in France before, this year, in fact, and had worked his fair share of Premium Live Events as a member of the WWE Universe, but never has he done both at the very same time, let along while wrestling one of the best workers in the business, AJ Styles.

No pressure, right?

Headlining what's shaping up to be a very fun five-match show in front of a crowd so loud they reportedly cracked 100 dBs for the promotions' go-home edition of SmackDown, WWE fans in France and beyond will get to see titles defended, legacies extended, and maybe even a belt or two switch hands, which, considering the history of Backlash, is practically the norm considering how many other titles have changed hands at the Premium Live Event in the past.

So, with the show rapidly approaching, why not take a look and the card and identify some bold predictions for the Lyon-based showcase?

3. Jacob Fatu doesn't debut at WWE Backlash

When news broke that Jacob Fatu had signed with WWE over WrestleMania 40 weekend, it got fans very excited about the future of The Bloodline. Would Fatu serve as an enforcer for the enforcer, filling the old Solo Sikoa role now that he's running the show on screen? Or would he team up with Tama Tonga and form an odd couple tag team that dominates in a way that the Gorillas of Destiny or the Samoan Swat Team could never dream of as new additions to WWE?

Well, considering it's been reported that Fatu's debut isn't imminent, it's hard to imagine fans will find out this weekend in France, especially with nothing but pride on the line in the faction's match against Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. Eventually, Fatu will be an incredible addition to The Bloodline; it just probably won't happen in Lyon.

2. A singles title doesn't change hands at WWE Backlash.

While four of the five matches at WWE Backlash have a title on the line, and three of those bouts have a singles strap on the line, it's hard to imagine the WWE Championship, the Women's Championship, or the World Heavyweight Championship changing hands at the first PLE of the month of May considering all three belts were won at WrestleMania 40.

Now granted, WWE did come up with a way to make things interesting, booking the men's champions against fan-favorite contenders and giving Bayley a three-way match where Tiffany Stratton could conceivably pin Naomi – or vice versa – to decide on the belt's fate without having Bayley pinned, but unless WWE wants to bounce the belt around a bit from champion to champion to champion between the “Showcase of the Immortals” and the conclusion of Money in the Bank, better to save the hijinks for the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada this July, as there has never been a female contract holder who didn't successfully cas in her contract, with the deed usually done on the very same night it's won.

1. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill become Tag Team Champions.

Even if all three of the singles champions retain at WWE Backlash, that doesn't mean a belt couldn't change at the PLE, as Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are facing off against the Kabuki Warriors for the Women's Tag Team Championship, and the title very well could change in a feel-good moment for the fans in Lyon.

On paper, the fit is perfect; WWE wants to push both Belair and Cargill, but there isn't an obvious lane for either performer unless they completely ice out one of the current storylines being told. Giving the duo this honor, even if it doesn't present the same level of pedigree as the Woman's Championship or the Woman's World Championship, does place a spotlight firmly on both women, but it also allows their storyline to grow, where it could remain cordial, become more professional, or even diverge into something more contentious, with a heel turn for one or the other leading to something incredibly interesting down the line.

Either way, with Backlash expected to draw a massive crowd in person and online, why not change at least one belt, send the fans home happy, and advance the promotion's storyline, too, especially since Damage CTRL as presently constructed really doesn't need tag straps to advance their agenda? Even if Belair and Cargill weren't featured on the King of the Ring poster, this one simply makes too much sense.
