The official cover release for the new EA Sports College Football 2025 video game was released on Wednesday, and both regular and deluxe covers feature Michigan football star running back Donovan Edwards. Edwards is joined by Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Colorado do-it-all star Travis Hunter. The release date of the game was also revealed, and it will be coming out on July 19th.

Last season, Donovan Edwards was the backup RB for the Michigan football team behind Blake Corum. Edwards still got a fair amount of action, but he had a quieter year than most people were expecting. He finished the season with 119 carries for 497 yards and five touchdowns. Because of the quiet season, Edwards didn't feel like he belonged on the cover. However, Corum knows that he deserves it.

“One of the guys, Ty, from EA, he said ‘keep it a secret,' I said ‘Ty, look man, I ain't gonna lie to you, I probably told my well-known friends, trusted agent,' that's a Jim Harbaugh saying right there,” Edwards said during an interview with 247 Sports. “So I call Blake [Corum] when I got the call, and I was like ‘man, this is just crazy because', me I always think that I can do better, I'm very hard on myself, right, and I told him ‘I don't even deserve to be on here like I didn't even have a great season to even be on the cover of the game.' Basically what he told me was that I deserve it. I've been through a lot. Growth mentally, emotionally and spiritually, that god has blessed me and I deserve to be on it. And he told me that there's no doubt that I'm gonna have a big season this upcoming year.”

Donovan Edwards still shined in the big moments last season

Donovan Edwards might've had a relatively quiet season, but he still stepped up in some of the biggest moments for the Michigan football team. He exploded for a huge touchdown run against Penn State on the road on a third down and 13 play, but his most memorable game of the season was the biggest game of the season for the Wolverines.

Michigan won the national championship last season, and Donovan Edwards stepped up on the biggest stage for the Wolverines in that game. He had two long touchdown runs in the first quarter of that game to put Michigan up big early, and they never looked back. Who knows what happens if Edwards doesn't make those two massive plays.

Blake Corum's message to Edwards helped him feel better, and he also realized that he can use this situation to his advantage in practice.

“I might tell coach Bellamy one time if he says something to me ‘were you on the cover of EA? Oh ok I thought so,'” Edwards said with a laugh.

Donovan Edwards has had some huge moments for this Michigan football team in his career, and he hasn't been the starting RB yet. That will change this year, and he is looking to have a big season.
