UCLA made a huge recruiting haul by securing Cherif Seye, a standout defensive player hailing from Florida A&M, as announced by Seye himself via an announcement on his Twitter/X account.

He posted on his Twitter/X account, “Last Chapter, Shock the World!”

Seye's collegiate journey began at Southeastern Louisiana, where he played 16 games in the 2020 and 2021. During his tenure there, he showcased his defensive prowess by racking up an impressive 222 total tackles. Prior to his time at Southeastern Louisiana, Seye honed his talents at ASA College, further laying the groundwork for his successful college career.

In his single season at Florida A&M, Seye made a significant impact on the field with 22 tackles, including 9.5 for a loss, demonstrating his ability to penetrate offensive lines and disrupt plays in the backfield. He also notched 4.5 sacks, adding to his reputation as a formidable pass rusher. His defensive efforts also included a forced fumble, highlighting his all-around abilities and football IQ.

Standing tall at 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, Seye brought a commanding presence to the defensive lineup. In the last nine games of the season for the spectacular 12-1 Florida A&M, he registered 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, showcasing his knack for making big plays in crucial moments. His agility and power allowed him to exert added pressure on opposing quarterbacks with four hurries. Remarkably, Seye achieved at least one tackle for loss in each of those games, further solidifying his status as a defensive linchpin. His relentless pursuit of the quarterback resulted in securing a sack in four of the last seven games of the season, a testament to his prowess and effectiveness on the field. He announced his departure from Flordia A&M on March 22nd.

“After much reflection and consideration for my future, I've made the decision to re-enter the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility left. Grateful for my time with the FAMU family, I'll forever cherish the memories made as a Rattler,” he said in the Twitter/X post announcing his decision.

Seye's move to UCLA is timely as the team is in the midst of a transformation under new head coach DeShaun Foster, who took the reins in February following Chip Kelly's departure to become the offensive coordinator at Ohio State. This transition marks a new era for UCLA football, with Foster at the helm aiming to build a formidable team capable of competing at the highest level.

Florida A&M also underwent a coaching change after its successful SWAC and Celebration Bowl-winning season. Coach Willie Simmons, who played a pivotal role in the team's achievements, departed to join Duke as the running backs coach in January. During his tenure at FAMU, Simmons led the team to an impressive 45-13 record and was instrumental in the team's transition from the MEAC to the SWAC. Under his guidance, FAMU faced only two defeats in the SWAC, both against Deion Sanders' formidable Jackson State Tigers in 2021 and 2022. Seye's contributions were crucial in establishing Florida A&M as the second-best defense in the FCS.

As Cherif Seye prepares to embark on his journey with UCLA, his track record of excellence for the Rattlers should excite Bruins fans.
