The Toronto Maple Leafs look to force a game seven as they host the Boston Bruins. It is time to continue our NHL odds series with a Bruins- Maple Leafs prediction, pick, and how to watch.

After splitting the first two games of the series at home, the Boston Bruins took both games in Toronto to give themselves a 3-1 series lead and headed home with a chance to win the series. Toronto started game five hot though. They would score just 5:33 into the game on a Jake McCabe goal, assisted by Mitch Marner and Max Domi. It would take the Bruins eight minutes and 21 seconds to respond, as Trent Frederic scored to tie the game. From there, it was all about the goalies. Joseph Woll would have 27 saves in the game for the Maple Leafs, while Jeremy Swayman would have 31 saves. Still, it was Swayman who would allow the second goal. Two minutes and 26 seconds into overtime, Matthew Knies found the back of the net to force a game six back in Toronto.

Why The Bruins Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Bruins have been getting great production from their major players. Brad Marchand has been wonderful with three goals and five assists, good for eight total points. Marchand was second on the team in points this year, having 29 goals and 38 assists in the regular season. He was shut down in game four though, with no shots on goal and four penalty minutes.

David Pastrnak has two goals and two assists in the playoffs. He led the team with 47 goals and 63 assists in the regular season, good for 110 points.  Charlie McAvoy continued where he left off in the regular season, having four assists so far in the playoffs. McAvoy had 35 assists during the regular season and 12 goals. That placed him fifth on the team in points this year. Jake DeBrusk has also been great with three goals and two assists.  DeBrusk scored 19 times in the regular season while also having 21 assists.

It is projected to be Jeremy Swayman in goal again for this game. The last time out was his first loss of the series, with the other loss belonging to Linus Ullmark. Swayman has been amazing so far in the series. He has a 1.49 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage. He had a .939 save percentage last time out, which was the second-lowest of the series for him. Swayman had a .933 save percentage in game three of the series, but got the wins as the Bruins scored four goals.

Why The Maple Leafs Will Cover The Spread/Win

For the Maple Leafs to force a game seven, it has to start with Auston Matthews. Matthews has just one goal in the series after leading the team in goals in the regular season. Matthews had 69 goals in the regular season with 38 assists, good for 107 points. He has just three points so far in the playoffs, with two assists as well, and just one point on the power play. Further, Matthews missed game five of the series. He is considered day-to-day currently.

William Nylander has also not been a factor yet. He has played in just two games so far, with no points. Nylander was second on the team in points this year, with 40 goals and 58 assists, good for 98 total points. John Tavares has just one goal and one assist so far. He was third on the team in goals, scoring 29, while having 65 total points. Mitch Marner has a goal and two assists but also scored more than a point per game in the regular season, scoring 26 goals and having 59 assists, good for 85 points.

Joseph Woll took the start in game five of the series and could start again in this one. Woll got the relief appearance in game four, stopping all five shots he faced. Then, last time out, he stopped 27 of 28 shots. That was good for a .964 save percentage and the win in game five.

Final Bruins-Maple Leafs Prediction & Pick

If Auston Matthews is out for the Maple Leafs, it will be another major hurdle for them to overcome. Still, they did that in game five of the series on the back of an amazing goalie performance by Joseph Woll. The Bruins have been the better team in this series though. Jeremy Swayman has been amazing, and while he took the loss in game five, he allowed just two goals. The Bruins should be able to get more than two in this one. The Bruins will be closing out the series on the road in this one.
