It is game one of the Western Conference Semi-Finals as the Colorado Avalanche face the Dallas Stars. It is time to continue our NHL odds series with an Avalanche-Stars Game 1 prediction, pick, and how to watch.

The Colorado Avalanche got here after winning a five-game series with the Winnipeg Jets. After a first game in which both teams put on an offensive show, the Avlanahce took over. They were down 1-0 in the series after the 7-6 loss on the road. From there, the Avalanche scored 22 goals over the next four games, holding the Jets to just eight. The Aves would win four straight and move on to the next round.

Meanwhile, the Stars took a more difficult route. They would lose the first two games of their series at home to the Vegas Golden Knights. Then, they would win the next two games on the road to tie the series. The Stars would come home and win game five 3-2, but then be shut out in game six on the road to force a game seven. They would take the 2-1 win to move on to the next round.

Why The Avalanche Will Cover The Spread/Win

Just like in the regular season Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen continue to lead the way for the Avalanche. MacKinnon comes into the series with two goals and seven assists in the playoffs. He also has a goal and four assists on the power play. MacKinnon has 51 goals and 89 assists in the regular season, good for 140 points. He also had ten goals and 38 assists on the power play. Meanwhile, Rantanen also has two goals and seven assists in the playoffs. In the regular season, he had 42 goals and 62 assists, good for 104 points. He also has two playoff assists on the power play, while he has 14 goals and 26 assists on the power play in the regular season.

Cale Makar is also playing well so far. He has two goals and seven assists in the playoffs as well. In the regular season, he had 90 points from the blue line, via 21 goals and 69 assists. The major goal soceres have been a surprise though/ Valeri Nichuishkin has seven goals so far in the playoffs, with three of them on the power play. In the regular season, he had 28 goals and 25 assists, with 16 power-play goals. He played in just 54 goals though. Artturi Lehkoenen also has five goals and eight assists in the playoffs. In the regular season. He had just 16 goals and 18 assists but did play in just 45 games.

Alexander Georgiev is expected to be in goal once again for Colorado. He led the NHL in wins this year, but was outside the top 30 in both goals against average and save percentage. In his first start in the Jets series, he was awful. Georgiev allowed seven goals on just 23 shots in the game. In the final four games, he allowed eight goals in 117 shots, winning all four games and having a save percentage of .915 or better in all four games.

Why The Stars Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Stars have been led in the playoffs by Wyatt Johnston. He has four goals and three assists so far in the playoffs, after having 32 goals and 33 assists in the regular season. He also has a goal and an assist on the power play. Johnston had just three goals and seven assists on the power play in the regular season. Jason Robertson led the team in the regular season. He had 29 goals and 51 assists in the regular season. This gave him 80 total points. In the playoffs, he has three goals and two assists, with two of the goals coming on the power play.

One area the Stars need help is production from Joe Pavelski. He led the team with 11 power-play goals while having 27 goals and 40 assists overall. In the series with the Golden Knights, he has no points and just six shots on goal. Roope Hintz was not much better. Hintz was third on the team in power in the regu; ar season, with 30 goals and 25 astis. So far in the playoffs, he has just one goal. Further, he had a plus-26 rating in the regular season, second-best on the team. In the playoffs, he is at a minus-four rating.

Jake Oettinger will be in goal for this one for the Stars. He has been solid in the playoffs. Oettinger has 1.95 goals against average and a .925 save percentage in the playoffs so far. He has been over .940 in save percentage in each of his last five games, and over .920 in each of the last six games. His only game in giving up more than two goals was game one of the series when he gave up four goals on just 15 shots.

Final Avalanche-Stars Prediction & Pick

There are a few factors worth looking at in this game. First is the offensive units. Both teams have solid offensive units, but the Avalanche are getting more production from their star players. Second, both offensive units have been shut down at times. Third is goaltending. Both goalies had awful game ones and then figured it out. They have been great since then. Oettinger has been the better goalie though. While the Stars did play a seven-game series, they are still in rhythm. The days off for a hot goaltender may hurt here. Expect a good game, but the Stars to come out on top.
